The Position

In the R&D Chemistry Solutions department, which is part of Roche Diagnostics Solutions (RDS), we develop chemical ingredients for diagnostic products. Our task is to provide chemical solutions for diagnostic problems within the entire product portfolio.
The team of ten team members with technical and scientific backgrounds is working on organic-chemical syntheses, in particular in the field of nucleic acids. We take a flexible and goal-oriented approach to develop high-quality, customized molecules for our internal and external customers, but also do not forget to have fun at work.
Your impact
You can expect a diverse role in the field of organic synthesis where you will work with a focus on research and development:
You are responsible for the execution of organic chemical syntheses to provide sophisticated molecular structures, partly related to nucleic acid chemistry, as well as corresponding precursors.
The production, isolation, purification, characterization and functional evaluation of chemical and biochemical molecules are also part of your tasks.
You are familiar with the handling of complicated physico-chemical equipment, the analytical characterization and evaluation of synthesis products using various analytical methods (e.g. NMR, HPLC, MS).
The documentation and presentation of experimental procedures and analysis results supplements your area of responsibility.
You will work in an international project team and ensure cross-site communication.
Compliance with safety and environmental protection regulations and with requirements from quality management is the basis of your work.
Your profile
You have a university degree with a doctorate in chemistry.
You have several years of professional experience with a background in organic chemistry.
Ideally, but not mandatory, you also have acquired experiences in the field of synthesis of nucleosides, nucleotides and nucleic acids as well as their precursors.
English is already part of your daily routine.
You have experience in designing and producing high-quality substances and bring along the necessary creativity and diligence.
The ability to work in a team and reliability is an indispensable basis for you.
This position is limited to 2 years.
