Internship / Working student / Master Thesis student (m/f/d) Simulation, Prototyping and Testing of Highly Dynamic Actuator Mechanisms

Your role and responsibilities

Build simulation models and digital twins of highly complex mechanical systems using Multibody Dynamics and Finite Element simulation tools.
Create models of different complexity (from analytical to full 3D FEM simulations) for realworld actuation systems, considering their transient behavior and control.
Design and test new prototypes in our lab. Set up advanced test rigs with the cooperation of the prototyping team, define the testing concept, and evaluate/interpret measurement results.
Apply your own ideas to optimize actual hardware solutions and/or simulation processes used in the design.
Collaborate with our team members and learn about new technological trends and future control and protection devices.
Document and present scientific results in a professional environment at ABB.

Qualifications for the role

• You are studying for a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
• You have good knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields: Applied Mechanics, Mechatronics, Multibody Dynamics Simulation, Finite Element Analysis and Design, Prototyping and Testing of Mechatronic/Mechanical Systems.
• You are experienced in at least one of the following software packages: ANSYS, Adams, MATLAB/Simulink, SolidWorks, LabVIEW.
• You are fluent in English (written and oral).
