European Strategic Commodity Manager (m/f/d) – Korschenbroich/Germany
For our client Sempell, part of Emerson Electric Co., we are searching for a European Strategic Commodity Manager (m/f/d) based in Korschenbroich/Germany.

As part of Emerson Automation Solutions, a globally leading and highly innovative solutions provider at all levels in the process automation industry, Sempell delivers customer-specific valve solutions such as control, pressure relief, safety, isolation, and shut-off valves for the most demanding and critical applications in power plant technologies.
In this role you will integrate Emerson’s corporate supply management strategies and best practices into the local procurement and supply management processes at the Sempell site in Korschenbroich/Germany for the Steam value chain throughout the entire project- and manufacturing process, from development and manufacturing engineering, production and delivery.
You will further develop commodity strategies on an European level for machined components, forgings, castings and fasteners for 4 production sites.
This position reports to the Emerson Europen Supply Chain Director of the Flow Control Valve division.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the integration into Emerson standard supply chain processes, utilizing Lean methodologies
- Ensure visibility on SAP supply chain processes including item setting, demand planning, Proosal- and PO management
- Visualize site spend data by products, suppliers and commodities
- Harmonize the supplier selection process
- Develop commodity and supply market strategies for castings, forgings, fasteners and machined components and lead the EU team on these commodities
- Train the local purchasing and engineering team on Emerson supply chain processes
- Analyse and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease direct spend
- Identify procurement projects based on business strategies with market analysis and selection of possible improvement areas
- Ensure to meet annual KPI targets and data accuracy in Emerson tracking systems (e.g. project tracker, cost impact report)
- Be a trusted advisor to the local site team
- Manage risk and implement risk management best practices
- Inform local purchasing departments about changes in price, lead time, supplier changes, black list etc. which may impact operations
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Your Qualifications
- Degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical engineering preferred) and/or business administration with a focus on Supply Chain Management or similar eduction
- Commodity experience in either machining, forgings, castings or fasteners preferred
- Ability to read technical drawings
- Experience in strategic sourcing or commodity management, in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of supply markets, supply chain dynamics, and procurement best practices
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in German and English
- Data analysis skills
- Basic knowledge of materials management (planning, inventory management)
- Project management and leadership skills
- Ability to manage ambiguity to operate effectively, even when things are not certain
