Description
The Accounting Assistant supports upper-level accounting managers and senior accountants while providing important services within the office. This position is responsible for general accounting functions including preparing journal entries, cash receipts for deposit, monthly account reconciliations, and document collection and maintenance of records.
Essential Responsibilities:
Perform and manage routine financial and accounting tasks
Provide grant related support
Provide account specific and project support
- Assist with the collection of documentation and the recording of capital asset.
- Assist with endowment, restricted operating and agency fund program projects. Responsible for maintenance of supporting documentation.
- Develop an internal process to comply with the College's Document Retention Policy that occurs on an annual basis.
- Assist with additional projects as needed.
Demonstrate institution specific knowledge
Other Information:
This is a full-time, 12-month, benefits-eligible position. Normal hours of work are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Salary range is $24.50 - 26.00 hourly.
Qualifications
· Three to five years relevant experience preferred, including accounting education, training, and financial record-keeping experience necessary to perform the responsibilities listed above.
· Three years of related work or audit experience.
· Proficiency in the use of computerized general ledger or ERP systems and Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
· Thorough understanding of general business practices relevant to not-for-profit organizations and/or for-profit organizations.
· Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide range of campus constituencies.
· Must have strong organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively.
· Must be able to work well under pressure, set priorities to meet established deadlines, and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain strict confidentiality.
· Ability to work onsite.
· The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
